The Disney Investor Day presentation in December 2020 was the first time that Disney announced the development of the project. Along with other projects and movies related to Disney, Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, the movie was also announced.
James Gunn, director of the film, confirmed that principal photography for the holiday movie has been completed. He said it would be finished by April 2022. We can now be confident that the movie will release in December.
