The third season of His Dark Materials is set to release on November 17th, 2019. ..
It was a sad goodbye for all of the cast, including Dafnekeene, who was the leading lady. She said in December 2020 that she was trying to forget about it.
“People on set are my second family since I’ve known them for several years. They have seen me grow up and they are a part of my heart. I cannot wait to return. People say, “I cannot wait for vacation,” but I cannot wait to go back to filming.”
This is all you need to know about His dark Materials season 3.
His Dark Materials season 3 release date
His Dark Materials season 3 will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in UK in Fall 2022.
The BBC has confirmed the airing of the final series in 2022. However, it will not be available until Autumn due to the large VFX required to tell the story.
This is a longer gap than between seasons one-two, which were consecutively broadcast in autumn 2019 and fall 2020.
James McAvoy suggested, just one week prior to the BBC announcement, that it might come sooner, perhaps in January of this year. However, it felt that Lord Asriel was being too optimistic.
He said that he was not qualified to answer such questions, but that he would be able to do so at the beginning next year.
It seems that season three will continue to have eight episodes, despite Jane Tranter, executive producer, having previously tried to get a series four to tell the entire story.
Tranter stated that he wanted to divide it into two but decided to do it one way. Deadline. “You don’t always get what you want.”
“The Amber Spyglass has been adapted into eight episodes, and I’m fully and humblely sorry that I was wrong.”

Regulars Dafne Keen (or better, Cardinal) MacPhail will continue to play the roles of Lyra or Will.
Wilson described her villainous character as “She takes a great trip in season three.” “I cannot wait to get back in Mrs Coulter’s shoes.”
Wilson stated that it was quite interesting because in this season, we make a reference her mother during the His Dark Materials panel.
“We do actually have some outfits that are her mother’s and that were sent to Mrs Coulter. She’s connected to the Magisterium, which is the Church, in my mind.
“Mrs. Coulter’s mother was a very important part of the Church. That is what she sees as rules and patriarchy. That was why I believe Mrs. Coulter was a disappointment to her mother.”
Other than that, Heartstopper actor Kit Connor is also returning to his role as Lyra’s voice, Pantalaimon.
After being absent for most of season two, James McAvoy will be returning to season one as Lord Asriel. His character plays a greater role in the book that the next season is based upon.
Season 2 was supposed to feature the character in a standalone episode. However, the episode was cancelled by the Covid-19 pandemic. This led to a shorter episode count for the second season.
Joe Tandberg’s bear-king Iorek byrnison, who had been absent for most of season 2, will likely return to a bigger part.
Season two’s finale hint at Lewin Lloyd, who played Lyra’s friend Roger despite his death.
After the deaths of each character in season two, series regulars Lin Manuel Miranda (Lee Scoresby), Ariyon Bakare (Lord Carlo Boreal), and Andrew Scott [Colonel John Parry/Stanislaus Gerumman] will not be returning to the show. However, Roger’s return does suggest that death isn’t always the end of the story in His Dark Materials.
We might see these unseen characters appearing in future episodes.
The Amber Spyglass introduces some key characters, including several voice roles. The BBC announced in June 2021 that they would be adding new cast members to bring these characters to life.
Adewale Akinnuoye–Agbaje (Game of Thrones), as Commander Ogunwe, Jamie Ward (“The Durrels”) as Father Gomez, and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolf (Ama) as Ama. Kobna Heldbrook-Smith (Mary Poppins Returns), Simon Harrison (“Endeavour”) and Chipo Chung (“Into the Badlands”) are the rebel angels Balthamos and Baruch.
Sophie Okonedo, who voiced Xaphania during the second season, is replaced by Chung.
Unfortunately, Helen McCrory’s death means that her voice part in the series (as Lord Asriel’s daemon Stelmaria), will be recast. McAvoy told The Times.
He said, “We haven’t thought about it.” But, “I don’t think we want talk about it, but when it does, somebody else will be honored to step in to her, well. . . If not her footsteps, then her voicesteps.
Sian Clifford (Fleabag), and Jonathan Aris, (Sherlock), will play the roles of Gallivespians spies, Agent Salmakia, and Commander Roke, respectively.
Deadline Pullman describes these characters as follows: “He was striking to see: he wasn’t taller than Lord Asriel, and as slim as a dragonfly. But the rest of Lord Asriels captains treated him deeply, because he had a poisonous bite in his spurs. His kind, the Gallivespians had very few qualities other than their small size. They were proud and touchy and would have been difficult to miss if they were Lord Asriel’s size.
His Dark Materials season 3 plot
Because it was adapted from a book that has been around for decades, we already know a lot about what will happen in His Dark Materials season 3.
The Amber Spyglass shows Lord Asriel’s rise against religious tyranny and The Authority as its leader. He draws in creatures and forces of different worlds, and even calls some angels to his side.
While Lyra is being held captive by Mrs Coulter, Will searches for Lyra (accompanied by two angels who want him to Asriel), while Mary Malone enters a new world to learn about Dust from creatures called Mulefa. She’s followed by a Magisterium assassin.
Will and Lyra eventually meet up to go to the Land of the Dead in search of Roger. Mrs Coulter then joins forces to fight the angels. The whole thing ends in a spectacular spectacle when the forces of the heavens clash with the earth, which leads to one last tragedy (which we won’t spoil).
“What can you tell me? McAvoy stated that it was war. “At the conclusion of the second season, we kind of declare war against the Kingdom of Heaven. So yeah, it gets really down and dirty and there’s going to be a lot of fighting and lots of explosions.
“But it’s really about a little girl and a little boy… not the adults with egos.”
It looks like a huge series. Joel Collins, executive producer, and production designer, says that the team is looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s all complex, but I utterly know of the Mulefa, and what their world looks like, Asriel’s Republic (of Heaven) is amazing,” Collins exclusively stated to RadioTimes.com.
“We go to the Land of the Dead, which is an interesting thing to contemplate and to travel through. It’s a massive, complex and fun puzzle. There are so many ideas.
Jane Tranter confirmed that the fans will see more angels. They appeared briefly in the first season and told Entertainment Weekly that they were “a very, very important presence” in the third.
She explained that she had trailed them in season 2 so they would be a future attraction.
Has there been a trailer for His Dark Materials season 3
The BBC has yet to release a trailer for the series, despite the fact that filming is just beginning. We’ll update this page as soon as we have the teasers.
It’s possible that it won’t take too much time…

Is there a TV series that is based on the Book of Dust novel La Belle Sauvage
HBO and BBC have not confirmed plans to adapt Philip Pullman’s prequel/sequel trilogy, His Dark Materials, to HBO or BBC.
Jane Tranter, executive producer of His Dark Materials, revealed that the series’ team would love to adapt the novels from the previous books for the screen in 2020.
Tranter stated that Lyra was born to La Belle Sauvage, and shares some of Asriel’s backstory and Lyra’s origin story.
“And The Secret Commonwealth, one of my favorite books, is one I’ve ever read.” There is no better way to study depression in fantasy settings.
She said, “It’s an exciting story, but like everything Philip does it has many layers to it. It’s a remarkable piece, so large and ambitious. We’d love to have the chance to do it if we had the chance.”
Between November 30, 2021 and February 26, 2022, a stage production of The Book of Dust’s original volume La Belle Sauvage will be presented at the Bridge Theatre, London.
It will be broadcast live on NT Live on February 17, 2022.
Bryony Laver, an acclaimed dramatist, adapted the novel for the stage.
