Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kanneshiro and illustrated. Since August 2018, Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen magazine serialized it. A TV series based upon the anime will be available via Netflix by 2022.
Plot Blue Lock
After the Japan Football Association has reviewed the state of Japanese football, Jinpachi Ego was hired to coach Japan’s World Cup team. Jinpachi believes Japan lacks an aggressive striker capable scoring goals. He creates the Blue Lock, which is a prison-like facility that houses three hundred talented strikers from Japanese high schools. Blue Lock’s sole survivor will become the national team’s striker. Those who lose will be permanently removed from the team.
Yoichi Isagi is a striker who was unsuccessful in leading his high school football team into the national tournament. He has been chosen to take part in this risky project. He passed the ball to his teammate, who missed the goal, instead of scoring himself. This left him wondering if the outcome would have been different if he had been more selfish. Blue Lock offers Yoichi an opportunity to find himself. He hopes to be the best striker in Japan and lead Japan to World Cup glory.
