One possibility is that season 4 could be adapted from Harkness’ forthcoming book, The Serpent’s Mirror. Diana and Matthew go back to Sept Tours to settle down into a peaceful life. But she finds something surprising in the archives regarding Queen Elizabeth’s ascendance to the throne. Matthew was a double agent for the vampiric vampirics in Tudor era. Diana investigates her husband’s history to discover what actually happened in November 1558.
Gallowglass spinoff of A Discovery of Witches
A fourth season is unlikely, we have to admit. A Discovery of Witches spinoff (or multiple) is a better possibility.
Harkness also wrote Time’s Convert, a fourth book set in the All Souls universe that focuses on Matthew and Marcus Whitmore, a vampire son. It is set both in the Revolutionary War and the present. Marcus is first turned in the 18th Century. He falls in love with Phoebe Taylor two hundred years later. She decides to be a vampire, but it will be just as difficult as Matthew’s.
Harkness is currently working on two more All Souls novels, one focusing on Gallowglass. Steven Cree, the actor who plays the soulful vampire fighter, previously said he would be interested in a spinoff.
He told Digital Spy (opens in new window), “I would 100 percent be up for more Gallowglass.” “Gallowglass is an excellent character. It was like playing two characters. Season 2 is like a rock’n’roll vampire in Elizabethan era. Season 3 is like a motorbiker vampire.

Cancelled or Renewed for Season 4 of a Discovery of Witches
A Discovery of Witches will not air a fourth season. There has been no confirmation. Deborah Harkness, author of the books on which the show is based has confirmed that the series is a tri-season. Seasons 1 through 2 will cover Books 1 and 2, while Season 3 will be based on Book 3.
