This movie will plunge you into a three-hour nightmare of escalating dread.
The explicit scary Batman movie opens with jaw-tightening suspense. There are also serial killer scares, and even some torture porn. People of Gotham are presented as a swirling group of faceless, Halloween-masked characters. The tension is intensified by the relentless Michael Giacchino score and jagged horror movie soundtracks. The bad guys are not the ones who steal diamonds from charity galas. Instead, there is a serial killer who plunges the city in a simmering panic. Batman stalks the shadows in a heavy step and heavier fists. He is a pitiless serial killer who hides behind a mask, delivering his vengeful vengeance.
Pattinson’s Batman (Battinson) Pattman?) Pattman?) This younger Bruce Wayne, who is hunched down in the basement listening and rinsing on Nirvana, has mascara running down his face. He’s unformed and already in disarray, murmuring a Taxi Driver-esque voiceover while he drowns under a torrent of lawlessness, degradation, and neglect. Pattinson truly inhabits the Batman. Zoe Kravitz, who plays Selina Kyle — the Catwoman of Pattinson’s Bat — is an excellent choice. The film doesn’t manage to reveal the characters, instead focusing on the schlocky twists and not exploring the characters with any depth. Jeffrey Wright’s friend cop Jim Gordon is also subject to the same fate, despite being forced to stand next Batman and yelling at him. The bad guys have more fun. A barely identifiable Colin Farrell channeled Robert De Niro’s Al Capone in The Untouchables while John Turturro’s purring menace reminded Brando from The Godfather.
If you’re wondering if there’s room for a new take on 14 movies, it’s actually quite invigorating and not just to see Bruce Wayne as the Caped Crusader, but as Batman. The Batman does not disappear into a room like he did in the movies, but he has to fight for his life. The film’s highlight is Batman’s attempt to do something that we have seen him do many times before, but Pattinson’s wince makes it clear that this is his first time doing it. A superhero cliché suddenly becomes a dangerous and exciting moment.
The story is driven by the sleuthing, but the action scenes are truly hair-raisingly thrilling. The fights are shown as long, lingering shots that show Batman navigating each fight with economic fervor. Dramatic punch-ups are enhanced by the use of shadow and light.
The most exciting part of the apocalyptic car chase is perhaps its most dramatic. Pattinson’s Batman isn’t a high-tech speedster, or city-conquering tank. He drives a car as wild and unhinged. The Batmobile is a demon hot rod that roars with fury as it chases its prey. It’s lit only by red taillights and infernal fire. It’s an incendiary highlight of a film that is intensely intense.
There is a lot to be learned about The Batman’s political and psychological leanings. Not only the treatment of women in the film. Despite the large cast, there aren’t many. The grisly-sounding murder a woman is the plot. It’s retold several times. The plot twist is quite significant and reveals a disturbing backstory about a significant female character in Bruce Wayne’s past. Selina Kyle is a determined badass but Selina Kyle is still introduced with a lingering look from her stiletto boots up to her tight skirt before Batman and the camera voyeuristically observe her undress.
Batman clearly has a connection to the Riddler’s voyeurism, violence, and questions the methods of the caped crusader more than in previous films. This level of moral ambivalence seems closer to that in the darkly ironic Joker movie. For example, Batman’s first appearance is when a victim of mugging sees no distinction between his attackers, and the demonic figure who brutally beats them. The first Batman movie to explore the revisionist view that Bruce Wayne is wealthy and his hobby is helping poor people is also in it. The Batman, like the Joker movie explores the radicalizing effects of inequality on a oppressed populace. Joker was a villain so you had to laugh at the irony. While the Batman focuses on a hero — a conflicted and dubious hero but still — there is an more hopeful moral underneath all the gloom.
The Batman Movie 2022 Ending Explained
The Batman is set in the second year of Bruce Wayne (played by Paul Dandan)’s career as the top crimefighter. The movie features Batman facing the Riddler (played by Paul Dano) who is a Zodiac-style serial murderer. He is a dark mirror of Batman and seeks revenge just like the Caped Crusader. He believes Gotham has let him down throughout his life, and even considers Batman to be his friend until the end.

Who is The Riddler Talking to?
The Batman (Robert Pattinson) has stopped the evil plot of the Riddler (Paul Dano), by the end “The Batman”. The Riddler was able to set off a series bombs that caused a flood of water to flood Gotham. However, Batman’s heroism saved him from his attempted assassination. He realizes that his actions may have been a bit selfish towards the end and that his style might not be the right one.
The Riddler, who is in Arkham Asylum, watches from his cell and is furious at the failure of his attempts to change the status quo. This was part of an ongoing campaign against Gotham’s founding families. He starts to cry in his cell, childlike. He is heard by the prisoner next to him, who tells him to relax. TheWrap was present at a screening of “The Batman” on the Warner Bros. lot. In February, there was a Q&A session with Pattinson and director Matt Reeves. Zoe Kravitz (who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman) and Dylan Clark, the producer. This scene was the first question from the audience. Who, exactly?
“Who do you believe he is?” The unseen prisoner …” Reeves started. He is who you believe he to be. This is who he really is. It is interesting to note that the movie was being tested with the Joker appearing only a few months back. Although it is unclear if they were trying to get people off the scent or prevent online leaks, it was clear that a version without the Joker was an option.
Reeves continued to explain that this Joker version was born out of the story he wanted to tell with “The Batman.” “Selina Kyle may not be the Catwoman or the Penguin, and the character that you are referring too is not yet him, but it is him.” This means that he still has a long way to go before he can stop playing cards at crime and unleashing poison gas on Gotham. But it’s the Joker we love and know.
Will The Joker be the Villain in “The Batman” Sequel’s Sequel?
There are many intriguing questions raised by the Joker’s appearance. One of them is: Were the goons Batman beat up at the start of the movie Halloween ghouls, or were they connected to the Joker in some way? He’s well-known for his strong gang. Batman was the inspiration for the Joker’s appearance in Gotham. What role, if any, will the Joker play in the sequel film that Warner Bros. has not yet approved?
Is Keoghan also available for additional movies, which is a practical question. Will Keoghan, a 29-year old actor, return with the Joker if he does?
It will be interesting to see how Reeves views the character, especially considering that the Riddler transformed from a puzzle-obsessed with a penchant to question-marks into a sadistic serial murderer more in line than any of Batman’s archnemeses.
Pattinson, who was also present at the Q&A TheWrap attended said that he would love for Robin to enter the fray. He also expressed his fondness for the “A Death in the Family”, a 1988 comic written by Jim Starlin, inked by Jim Aparo, and covered by Mike Mignola, “Hellboy” creator. The storyline featured Robin (Jason Todd, not Dick Grayson) being killed by the Joker. This was not a certain thing. The issue ended on a cliffhanger with Robin possibly being blown to pieces by the Joker. The comics fans were able to vote in a write-in poll, which decided Robin’s fate. The gruesome vote of those bleak fans was to see Robin die. It would be one of the most memorable arcs in Batman comics.
This would be one way to introduce the new Joker: having Robin killed.
What was Riddler’s plan? What was his plan?
Riddler was always one-step ahead of the police and Batman. Although his assassination was undoubtedly clumsy, for someone who had meticulously planned his steps, Riddler’s surrender at the coffee shop was clearly deliberate.
His capture left The Batman and his powers-that-be feeling satisfied, and arguably also stoked Riddler’s online fan base to fight for him.
Riddler’s ultimate goal was to expose Gotham’s corruption and darkness. This is all due to the “Renewal Plan”, which was established to re-establish Gotham twenty years ago. Riddler, also known as Edward Nashton, was born in an orphanage. He resents those like Thomas Wayne who claim they will help revitalize the city. Many of Gotham’s powerfulbrokers took a share of the renewal fund. The rest of Gotham was left to the poor and in need.
It was a great job in terms of exposing Gotham’s corruption. His last plan was to wipe out Gotham and lead an insurrection. Batman at Gotham Square Garden foiled his final plan, but he still achieved most of his other goals. The Riddler has a good record of success as Batman villains.

Who was El Rata Alada, anyway?
Batman is led to Penguin by the mystery of El Rata Alada. Then comes the big reveal: Carmine Falcone, the rat. He, the DA, Mayor and many other high-ranking Gotham officials were in cahoots for several years. Bruce Wayne’s father Thomas Wayne is allegedly involved in this arrangement. Falcone also helped out by having a journalist (who was smearing Wayne family members) killed. Thomas Wayne did not want the journalist killed, but Falcone was able to control the outcome.
Riddler also has a final riddle about the ‘Rata. Riddler wants the rat to be ‘brought to the light.’ This is both in a metaphorical (to show how incestuous politicians and criminals in Gotham) and a literal sense. Batman takes Falcone out of his club, below a streetlight. This gives Riddler the perfect opportunity to kill Falcone from Below 44.
Falcone is Catwoman’s real father? Did Falcone also kill Catwoman’s mother, Catwoman?
He is! He did! It was a horrible piece of work. Selina Kyle says that her mother, a Falcone’s dancer, told her the truth about her father as a child. Falcone was against any woman. He strangled Selina’s mother, and tried to do the exact same to her.
What will Penguin do next, you ask?
Penguin is on the rise when we meet him in The Batman. But Colin Farrell’s “Ozzy” is not the top dog of underworld. Carmine Falcone is ranked above him in terms of the food chain, and it’s obvious that he’s a lower-tier mobster. There is an obvious power vacuum in Gotham, given the ending of The Batman. Penguin is the best candidate to fill that vacuum.
Dylan Clark , the producer of HBO Max, told SFX magazine that the mob boss has a spin-off HBO Max. It is almost like a Scarface’ story.
“It’s thrilling to do something like this as a standalone. But it speaks to our character and our movie so that you’ll return to the movie [and] say, ‘Oh, that backstory there, that quote refers to that’.”
Who is responsible for the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne
The Riddler reveals deep into The Batman’s second act that Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne were involved in controversy. Martha was hospitalized due to health problems. Edward Elliot, a journalist who was interested in comic book history, uncovered all of this. Thomas Elliot, who is later to be the villain Hush and may have some connection with Edward.
It is strongly implied that Sal Maroni, the mob boss, had the Waynes murdered after Thomas Wayne sought out Carmine Falcone’s help in resolving the Elliot matter. This can of course be refuted at any time. It seems that the Waynes were caught in a gangster trap and are now on the receiving end – far from the usual origin of the couple being robbed at a movie theater by an unidentified criminal.
Alfred: What happened?
Riddler’s greatest surprise attack in The Batman is on Alfred. Wayne Manor receives a package addressed to Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne is on Bat-duty and is unable to accept the package. Instead, Alfred opens the mail, which contains a bomb.
Alfred is severely injured but survives the explosion. Although his relationship with Bruce is strained by Bruce realizing he had kept his father’s secrets from Bruce, it remains strong.
Riddler believed that Batman and he were working together.
There is every reason to believe that the Riddler and Batman were in cahoots. The Batman was the one who revealed Gotham’s corrupt underbelly through solving Riddlers clues. He even brought Falcone “into light” so Nashton could get him off.
We’ll see that this is not the case. The prison interrogation between Batman, The Riddler is one of The Batman’s most fascinating scenes. It has double meaning. At first Batman believes Riddler has figured it out that he is Bruce Wayne. Soon, he realizes that Riddler really means Bruce Wayne was the last piece of Gotham’s elite who didn’t fall.
The two men may have similar goals, namely to eradicate evil from Gotham. However, they use very different approaches. Batman still cares for his city, while the Riddler wants to just wash it away.
How did Riddler become an army commander?
It may seem difficult to see how Riddler managed to gather a group of copycats who would do anything for him. You’ll notice a significant (and scary) role in the proceedings if you keep an eye on Riddler’s hostage videos.
As the movie progresses, Riddler is seen to have increasing numbers of followers on social media. Each one encourages Nashton with advice and comments. Although it is a minor element of the film, the social media activity is what drives those who were radicalized to fight for the Riddler’s cause in the last act of the flood at Gotham Square Garden.
What does the last scene signify?
The Batman is a lot of subtlety in large parts. The last scene, in which Catwoman and Batman head off in different directions, is less subtle. The distance between them is evident on a literal level. Catwoman had previously asked Bats for a team and to head to Bludhaven. They’ll be riding alone now that he rejected them.
The heavy-handed metaphor also applies: Catwoman is likely to go in a different direction than Batman. This character is a long-standing anti-hero in comics, other media and movies. So don’t be surprised that this will be the scene we point to if Zoe Kravitz sees her feline friend become a foe in The Batman in the near-future.
Secret post credit?
You might have expected to see a proper Batman post-credits scene after the credits roll. Director Matt Reeves decided to have a different tag and it didn’t work out. However, there is something. The Riddler’s final “Goodbye” appears on the screen. As they fade, a website address appears.
You’ll find a message from The Riddler when you visit the website www.rataalada.com. There have been several variations to the website. The first required users to answer three questions. You can unlock a mini-movie by entering the answers (“Mask,” “Renewal,” or “Confusion”) and the last password is “promise”. The word “HUSH!” Thomas Wayne’s face is covered with the word “HUSH!”
This could be a reference the comics in which Hush is Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend Thomas Elliot. Elliot slanders Thomas Wayne for saving his parents’ lives when he was trying to kill them to get their fortune. He eventually joins the Ridder and adopts the name ‘Hush. Thomas Elliot plays the role of the journalist in The Batman movie. However, he is apparently killed by Carmine Falcone. They could be back as future villains in the next Batman movie. We’ll just have to wait and watch.
