The third episode revealed just how cold and calculated Ayanokoji can sometimes be. It also revealed the extent of his manipulation skills. Ayanakoji used Karuizawa as a victim of bullying to create a strategy that would help Class D pass the Cruise Ship test. Ayanokoji’s plan was brilliant, even though the results were not favorable.

Classroom of the Elite Episode 3 Recap

Manabe and her friends corner Karuizawa. They then begin to bully her, for no reason at all. Yukimura, Ayanokouji and others are watching the drama unfold in front of their eyes. Ayanokouji warns his friend to not interfere, as he seems to have a plan. Manabe and her friends show no remorse.

They know Karuizawa isn’t going to stand up for herself so they use this knowledge to their advantage. They not only assault Karuizawa physically but also have the courage to film the whole thing because they know that Karuizawa is emotionally trapped.

Yukimura loses patience as the bullying escalates and becomes more brutal with each passing moment. Ayanokouji’s warning is ignored and Yukimura confronts Manabe, Manabe, and other people who act as though nothing ever happened. They whisper to Karuizawa before they go to leave.

Yukimura then checks on Yukimura and tells her that she never asked for his help. She walks away from Yukimura without thanking him. Ayanokouji later sends Manabe an anonymous email inviting her to seek revenge on Karuizawa. He offers all of his support.

Manabe and her friends meet Karuizawa online. They then take Karuizawa to an isolated location where they assault her again. They are more brutal and show no remorse when they beat Karuizawa up.

Karuizawa is unable to resist the brutal assault because she knows that her bullies will be angry and it could have worse consequences. Ayanokouji attempts to manipulate Karuizawa to get her to stand up for herself after they leave. She accepts his questionable request, but she doesn’t have the motivation to defend herself.

Ayanokouji is shocked by Karuizawa’s lack of self-regard. However, he soon realizes that her bullying and lifelong experiences have rendered her defenseless.

He offers to be her ally and promises to provide all the emotional support she requires. He also plans to defend her against her bullies using the evidence he has. Karuizawa recognizes this is her golden chance to protect herself, so she joins forces with Ayanokouji.

Classroom of the Elite Episode 3: Is Ayanokouji a VIP in Group Mars? How does he fool his teammates?

Mars gathers with their group to discuss their plans as the deadline approaches. Hamaguchi suggests there is only one way forward, since the team cannot figure out who is the VIP.

To reveal the identity of VIP, each member of the team must bring their phone to the group. Machida attempts to discourage them by claiming that they could be wrong, but Hamaguchi insists on sticking with the plan.

He opens the email to discover that he is not the VIP. The rest of Mars group members feel brave enough to share their emails with others. All the members reveal that they aren’t the lucky students, one by one. Yukimura is next. He hands his phone to Yukimura and admits that he is the VIP.

There is however a twist to this tale. The phone rings when Yukimura calls Ayanokouji. The two friends swapped their phones in order to keep the VIP’s identity secret, as Ayanokouji was not comfortable with other members of the group.

Although the idea of sharing each other’s emails was meant to build trust, Ayanokouji tried to double-cross himself and his teammates. Ayanokouji is calm even as the students start to leave one after the other.

He meets Karuizawa after the meeting and discovers that his plans are more complicated than anyone could have imagined. Ayanokouji has made it so that, even though Yukimura and Yukimura have exchanged phones, Yukimura’s identity will still remain a mystery.

This is possible because Karuizawa was not the VIP. To fool his team, he behaved as if his cover was blown to fool them. Ayanokouji exchanged his first phones with Karuizawa, along with the sim. After the exchange, Yukimura got that phone.

When Ichinose called him, everyone in Mars thought Ayanokouji had been the VIP. But, the phone belonged to Karuizawa and the sim inside it belonged his. Summarising, Karuizawa was the VIP of Mars, not Ayanokouji.

A Double-Layed Strategy

Team Mars meetings have been stuck since the beginning of Classroom of Elite season 2. This is because Class-A advised everyone to keep quiet and wait for the period to end before guessing the VIP identity. This worked until episode 3. Class-A, through Ichinose, Hamaguchi, devised a high-risk plan that would yield high rewards.

It involved everyone going through every Team Mars member’s phones. The VIP identity can then be correctly guessed. This new strategy was quickly implemented and Yukimura admitted that he was the VIP. It turned out that it was a façade set up by Ayanakoji in order to upset everyone.

However, Ichinose was able to see through the setup and reveal Ayanakoji the real VIP. It turned out, however, that even that was a setup. Ayanakoji correctly predicted that Karuizawa would be the VIP at the end of the test. Ayanakoji switched phones and sim cards with Yukimura and Karuizawa to prevent Karuizawa from being revealed.

Ichinose used her wits to see through the first layer of the double-layered setup, allowing the VIP to remain cloaked. In a strange twist, Ichinose entered the room after the meeting was over and Karuizawa, Ayanakoji discussed their success. She told them cryptically that she had been part of their plan since the beginning.

The plan’s success also affected Class C, which reveals how smart Ichinose is. Ayanakoji once again credits Horikita with the development of Class D’s strategy. This evades any suspicion from Ichinose.

The episode ended with the release of the results. Class C placed first and Class D was in second place. Ryuen’s strategies to learn how the test works were successful, but this puts Class-D in a difficult position. After the events of episode 3 , one question remains: Will Class-D make it through the second term.
