Call of the Night Episode 3: Recap and Ending
Kou and Nazuna are sitting on top of a highrise building at night. She asks him if he has friends. Surprised, Kou doesn’t even understand the point at which friends who are close to each other can technically be considered friends. Nazuna concludes that he has probably never had friends throughout his life. This explains why he is so introverted and aloof.
These memories rush to his mind when Akira, his childhood friend, calls Kou from behind as he returns home from a night spent roaming the streets with Nazuna. He is stunned to see her wearing the transreciever he left behind in his apartment complex. With the hope that he will make a friend, Akira however claims that he gave it to her.
Kou didn’t realize that the transreciever he left in Akira’s mailbox was his. He did not know that it belonged there. He had left it behind, so she assumed he was going to give it to him. He resisted telling her the truth. Akira recalled their childhood, when she approached him as he watched the ants by himself. The two children became close friends on that day at the playground. Despite living in the same apartment complex, they haven’t been in touch in a while.
Akira loves to get up in the morning and walk for miles wearing her school dress. From then on, the two friends agree to meet up every morning. Kou, now alone, contacts Nazina via the transreciever to inform her that he has a friend.
As they do every night, Nazuna & Kou spend the next night in the apartment. Nazuna insists that Kou will not be leaving the apartment until they have had enough time. She is shocked to learn that Kou has left early to meet his friend. As Nazuna, Kou and their conversation about mundane matters continue in the park, she hides behind a tree to observe them from the other side.
Even though he didn’t expect it, Nazuna suddenly comes towards them looking very pissed. Kou is afraid of the worst, but he takes a deep breath and laughs when Nazuna casually jokes about their affair. Akira is still confused. Nazuna doesn’t try to conceal her feelings for Kou. She tells Akira that they only have a physical relationship. Kou may panic, but nothing could have prepared her for the things that she does.
Call of the Night Episode 3: Is Nazuna Feelings for Kou?
After spying on Akira and Kou for a while Nazuna decides to speak to them. She is also uncomfortably open about his relationship with Akira. Even though she told Akira they had a physical affair, Nazuna doesn’t stop there. She embraces Kou and drinks his blood. Akira is stunned for a moment, and then she tries to collect her thoughts. She is convinced that Nazuna, when she looks at the marks of her teeth on Kou’s neck is a vampire.
They head to a cafe, where Nazuna confirms Akira’s suspicions and they finally meet. Akira asks Kou to return to school and says she feels better when he’s around. Nazuna stares blankly back at her two friends. She suddenly feels something is wrong and leaves the room without explanation. Kou runs after Akira, handing over the bill money. Nazuna doesn’t want to speak to him. Kou starts to search for her all over the place, and she flies away.
While climbing stairs, he accidentally trips and injures his mouth. He ends up sitting beneath the stars. Kou is then called by Nazuna’s transreciever, who appears shortly thereafter. Kou apologizes to Nazuna even though he did nothing wrong. Nazuna assures him that everything is fine between them, and even kisses him on the lips so he can drink the blood.
While Nazuna is good at misdirecting Kou’s attention, it is clear that she has begun to feel for him. This is evident in her bizarre behavior in front Akira. She seems to be jealous of her, which is why her claim that she is in a physical relationship to Kou before introducing her to her. Nazuna also ran away from Akira’s confession about missing him at school when she heard it, which indicates that she was not comfortable in the situation. This could only be explained if one considers that she may have started to feel for Kou. It would be fascinating to see where her relationship with Kou goes from here.
