The Shield Hero is a new type of character that has been appearing in the game industry for a few years now. They are people who use their shield to protect themselves from harm, or to block attacks. There are many different Shield Heroes in the game industry, but there is one that stands out above all others. Ren Amaki is a Shield Hero who has become well-known and respected for his skills. Ren Amaki’s shield has been used to protect him from harm for years now, and he has become an expert at using it. He has even started to teach other Shield Heroes how to use their shields effectively. Ren Amaki’s shield is very effective, and it has saved him many times from harm. He is a great example of someone who uses their shield to protect themselves, and he is an inspiration to others who want to learn how to use their shields effectively.

He was less likely to treat the Shield Hero unjustly than the other two legendary heroes. However, he is horrible at cooperating with others, and his solo player tendencies led to frequent problems.

Malty deceived him, causing him to unlock the curse series Greed and Gluttony. This led to him becoming rogue and berserk. After his duel against Eclair, he was brought to his senses and promised to help save the world.

Appearance Of Ren Amaki Rising Of The Shield Hero

Ren has a short, black hairstyle that falls flat on the head. His eyes are kind of blue and looked distant and cold before. His role as protagonist in dimensional-cross stories from anime and manga bishounen manga was described as suited to him.

He prefers to wear simple clothing, with light clothing underneath and dark clothing on the exterior. He usually takes a simple blue cape and a breastplate when he travels.

He wore a dark coat with dark armor plating on his chest, right shoulder and lower legs in the past. He also wears dark-colored boots and gloves made of leather, as well as a scarf that wraps around his neck.

He carries the Legendary Sword, which he received when he was summoned from another world.

Personality Of Ren Amaki

Ren is cool and tries to be a loner. His party is run like a guild. He only works with other members when the prey that he wants to kill is too powerful for him to hunt on his own. He believes that the weaker members of his party should work together to increase their abilities to catch up to those who are stronger.

He is like the heroes (Naofumi Iwatani excluded), and initially believes that the world they have entered is a game. However, he refuses to believe otherwise. Itsuki Kawasumi and Motoyasu Katamura don’t seem to recognize the consequences of their actions. Ren, however, seems to have some understanding of the causes, since he knew that the Zombie Dragon had caused the plague. Itsuki and Motoyasu are more reasonable than Ren.

He believed that Naofumi was lying when he said that Melty Q Melromarc was under him and not his hostage and tried to offer a solution. Itsuki and Malty tried to seize Raphtalia via cheating and he called Motoyasu out because he believed Raphtalia had been brainwashed despite seeing her comforting Naofumi who was clearly upset.

Like Motoyasu or Itsuki Ren became more confident about his abilities. He refused to admit his failures and would blame others for the fact that he wasn’t as strong as he claimed. He would blame others and try to be superior while making himself appear weaker. He was more obvious when he was told by the heroes that they had to train seriously. Instead of focusing on the benefits of training, he would blame others and try to be superior, making himself look weaker. To prove his wrong, Eclair Seaetto defeated him in a sword match. He tried to use a skill out desperation, but he still refused to admit that he was losing. Ironically, this proved her right.

After his defeat and the deaths of his companions by Spirit Tortoise, Ren became more unstable. He denied that his recklessness and arrogance caused his companions’ deaths. He also claimed that they were weaker that he had expected. The sudden changes in the treatment of Ren only made matters worse. Bitch was able to convince Ren that she was Naofumi, Queen, and Motoyasu, making it easy for him to believe her. He made a terrible mistake and lost everything when Bitch betrayed Ren the next morning. This triggered Ren’s Curse Series.

After being possessed by Greed Series Ren started stealing from other people like how they stole from him. He didn’t want his identity to be revealed so he started to wear a mask. From behind the scenes, he formed his own band to attack people. He became more contradictory, boasting more about himself and attacking his targets only when they were alone. After succumbing to Gluttony, he became more violent and obsessed about increasing his power through killing people and stealing their EXP.

After being released from the cursed weapon’s effects, he joins Naofumi to be a friend and ally. He manages to relax and accept his mistakes. He has since lost his cool-guy persona and is now much more friendly.

Background About Ren Amaki

Ren is from an alternate Japan. Everything is more futuristic and advanced in the world Ren lives in. Every game in his world is run on VRMMO.

Ren became involved in a murder investigation one day as he was returning from school. In the small town where he lived, the murder case was well-known. Ren spoke of how he remembered saving his best friend, and how the criminal was captured. Ren did not go into detail but began to rub his sides when talking. It was believed that Ren had been stabbed in the side of his body during that struggle, then later died from blood loss. He awoke to find himself in another world before he could blink. He was reminded a lot by the VRMMO he played on Brave Star Online.

Learnt and natural abilities

Ren has become a highly skilled swordsman since he broke away from the cursed series. He began training with Eclair to learn how to swordplay. Ren prefers quick, agile attacks to hit-and run techniques. His tendency to focus solely on his opponent can lead to him becoming distracted, which often leads to him being attacked by surprise.

Ren, who was trained by Erhard as well as Erhard’s master, is also a highly skilled blacksmith. His creations are often less than his teachers’. He is prone to deteriorate a lot, which Naofumi frequently explains to him. However, he is still very young and can make high-quality weapons with only a few months of training. Naofumi also shared with him the Filo Kigurumi Erhard created, which he said was the most embarrassing creation of his. This allowed him to see that even his Masters have dark moments.

Ren Amaki Releationship

Legendary Heroes

Naofumi Iwatani

Ren initially held a low opinion of Naofumi. He considered him weak because of his Shield and a terrible person because of the false rape accusations made against him by Malty S Melromarc. He still believes Naofumi stole a job from Ren, but he soon realized that Naofumi caused the disaster. This left him stunned and guilty, so he ran away to investigate.

Ren’s view of Naofumi has changed since the Third Wave. He is now the only person who doesn’t berate Naofumi because he joined in the boss fight and even follows his lead once he learns how to draw out Naofumi. He still believes that his Wrath Shield was a cheat. Ren believed that Naofumi had not tried to harm Melty’s health by the Church of the Three Heroes conspiracy. He even apologized for believing him after Malty revealed her true nature.

Ren becomes jealous of Naofumi who can only use the shield and Ren is frustrated. He then joins the fray of accusing Naofumi cheating when Naofumi has to speak at the meeting of the Heroes. Ren feels sympathy for Naofumi’s situation when he first arrived in Melromarc. He now faces the same persecution by the same people.

However, Ren’s depression causes him to trust Malty more than Naofumi. This was a huge mistake. Ren is influenced by the Greed Series, Gluttony Series, and the sword’s Sword of Malty, and begins to view Naofumi as a boss with rare drops, high EXP rewards, and it takes Eclair Seaetto to get him to see things differently.

Ren is now free from the negative aspects in his personality and begins to see Naofumi, his villager, as a source of wisdom. Ren gained a better understanding of the Shield Hero after seeing how Naofumi works hard to help his slaves. Itsuki, who was under the Pride Series influence, accused Naofumi that he worked his slaves too hard and kept the profits for himself (which Naofumi also agreed to), Ren responded by saying that Naofumi was like a parent to all his village members. He was the one who worked the hardest for their benefit and not the opposite.

Both consider one another a friend and their current relationship is good. Ren often gets advice from Naofumi so that he can deal with personal issues such as his infatuation for Eclair, Wyndia or mistrust when forging weaponry.

Motoyasu Kitamura

Ren avoids Motoyasu because of his friendly personality and Harem-seeker tendencies. They are quick to disagree with each other when their information doesn’t match. This was evident during the third wave, when they tried to draw out the Soul Eater, and again at the meeting of four heroes when they disagreed about the reinforcement methods for their weapons.

The relationship between them hasn’t changed much. Ren now tries to avoid Motoyasu because of how strange he was after falling in love with Filo. Ren’s current view of Motoyasu resembles Naofumi’s. He thinks he’s an idiot but an intelligent idiot. In fact, Ren often supports Naofumi’s statement that Motoyasu’s an idiot.

Itsuki Kawasumi

Itsuki and Ren seem to get along well. They are seen talking and eating together in their free time. Ren follows Itsuki whenever he accuses Naofumi cheating. Ren also managed to convince Itsuki that he should investigate the accusations against Naofumi. But Ren’s trust in the information from his game eclipses that of Itsuki, and they resort to vulgar insults and lying accusations when their knowledge isn’t consistent.

Ren expressed concern for Itsuki when he was under the influence from his weapon’s Pride Series. He can relate to the pain and difficulties Itsuki was experiencing.

Vassal Weapon Holders

Raphtalia

Ren tried to help Raphtalia, believing that she was being forced into slavery by Naofumi. However, when he realized how close they were, he wasn’t happy about being duped.

Glass

Ren feels anger towards Glass and resentment. Glass mocks Ren openly and despises him for being too weak and unskilled to be a Hero.

Aultcray Melromarc, XXXII

Ren has a somewhat negative opinion of the King. While he didn’t treat Naofumi as badly, he did not treat him as well. He also knew that Aultcray was bullying Naofumi through refusing to give him quests and making excuses to stop his funding.

Companions Of Ren Amaki

Welt, Bakta and Tersia (all deceased)

Ren treated his ex-comrades as members of a guild. He gave them areas to improve their skills and had them run errands for Ren. The immense guilt that he felt at the deaths of his companions was enough to send Ren into depression. Ren is cured from his Curse Series and begins to feel guilty for their deaths. He seeks to redeem the world in order to honor their sacrifices.

Eclair Seaetto

Eclair and Ren had a difficult relationship at first. This was due to Ren’s belief in the importance of level and that being a Hero made him stronger and more skillful than her. She is the one who gets Ren out of the Cursed Series. She beats Ren twice and saves him from two Reincarnated Individuals.

Eclair is appointed as Ren’s training partner and instructor in the Hengen Musou style. Ren developed feelings for Eclair over time. Eclair, however, has been “married to” her work and is unable to reciprocate Ren’s feelings.

Wyndia

Ren feels a lot of guilt about Wyndia. He is acutely aware that Wyndia’s status as an orphan, and slave, stems entirely from Gaelion’s murder. He seeks to make amends. Wyndia hates Ren for killing her father. However, Wyndia isn’t so selfish to seek revenge and tell him that if Ren wants forgiveness, then he should save all of the world.

Gaelion

Ren feels guilty about the murder of the adult Gaelion. However, he doesn’t know the details of his resurrection. Ren is hated by the current Gaelion to the point where he doesn’t want the Hero to even know that Ren is still alive.

Etymology

Ren is a Chinese name that means “tempering and refine, drill, train or polish” (Lian). Ren’s surname Amaki is “heaven and sky” (Tian) ( ima_) and “trees, wood” (Mu) ( ki).

Trivia About Ren Itsuki

All four Legendary Heroes were inspired by characters from other series that the Author has previously read. Ren is based on the generic isekai protagonist as his character trope. His physical characteristics include dark hair, dark clothes, and a sword-wielder. His personality traits include cool, loner and solo-player. His past traits include: living in a world with VRRMOs and playing a game called “Brave Star Online”. He is often compared to Kirito from Sword Art Online, which ironically shares many of his traits and is the same Japanese Voice Actor. Ren is a solo-player and treats his party members as NPCs. He uses them to grind in the appropriate leveling grounds according to their levels. Ren will only join hands when necessary. It is shown in the manga that Ren cannot swim and can drown even in shallow water.
