Spy X Family Season 1 Review Each Episode And Our Rating

Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 1 Review – Family Man

Obviously, there are downsides to watching an anime based on a manga you really liked. Spy x Family is a manga a lot of people really like. In fact, I have lent my own copies out to a few people and almost all of them ended up buying the series for themselves.

And those that didn’t still went on to read everything they can digitally. I’m sure there are people out there that don’t like Spy x Family much. And if the anime becomes popular, I’m sure we’ll get a lot more. But in my experience, it’s a pretty universally liked story. So expectations for this first episode must have been through the roof.

First, let me be clear that you definitely do not need to have read the manga to enjoy the anime. The first episode stuck pretty closely to the source material and I don’t think you’re missing out if you are only watching the anime. But there are two things that struck me that I probably would not have noticed if I hadn’t read the manga.

First, is the voice acting. More specifically, the voice acting of the minor extras. Like all those important government and organization folks we saw for a few minutes in the opening. They were all so deep and important-sounding. I don’t know how to explain it but it added a lot of gravitas and an immediate sense of stakes that I was impressed by. I don’t mean to sound like I’m not impressed by the main cast mind you. Loid is Takuya Eguchi, who I am already a big fan of, and Anya is Atsumi Tanezaki. We just heard her as Inui in My Dress-Up Darling and looking over her roles, she has had a very interesting career! I’m saying the voice casting in Spy x Family is particularly good. I’m looking forward to hearing Yor.

The second thing I noticed is the soundtrack. Yeah, it’s both audio. But you know, because there wasn’t any in the mange, I appreciate how much sound has added to the story. The music used in this episode was often a sort of updated take on classic James Bond type music. Lots of brass and bold sweeping melodies but a little bouncier. Modernized and softened just a bit to fit in with this more modern and nuanced spy. A lot of thought has been put into this music.

And that’s about it. I genuinely tried to imagine what my experience would be if I had been watching Spy x Family with no prior knowledge and I think it would have been largely the same. The first episode was a fantastic mix of intriguing, exciting and just utterly charming. None of those things either benefitted or were hurt by the fact that the events were familiar to me.

I’m not sure if there’s any point in going over the story. I’m going to assume you’ve all watched the first episode. And if you haven’t, what are you doing here, go watch it. It was so much fun!

Loid and Anya are a marvellous odd couple. At first glance, you could think Anya runs the risk of being one of those too precocious child characters or just cloyingly cute. But thankfully, she is given a lot of depth and personality. Anya is neither a genius nor a prodigy and more importantly, she is allowed to act her age. And although her actual age is never revealed, it’s implied that she is either 4 or 5 years old. And that’s what she acts like. This is the perfect foil to Twilight’s hardened but kind persona that values efficiency above all else. We really got to see what the unglamorous side of parenthood des to someone in this episode.

I’m really insisting on the father-daughter thing. I like those relationships. And at its core, Spy x Family is a found family story with a spy thriller twist. All the gadgets, missions and thrilling action are great, but the important part isn’t the Spy, it’s the Family. That doesn’t mean we should ignore the action altogether. The daring rescue scene at the climax was really well animated and I think it added a lot to the episode. If we can expect this level of production mastery throughout the season, it’s going t be great to watch just on a technical level.

Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 2 Review – Found Family

Ok, so we start episode 2 of Spy x Family and we say hello to mama. Obviously, Yor is a known quantity for me. But it was still surprising to see her in action. And boy was this story made for action. Yor is one of the archetypes I tend to really like. The jarring contradiction of sweet innocence, even kindness, and ruthless skills and professionalism. The killer with a heart of gold trope. But Yor also has this over-the-top naiveté which makes her particularly endearing to me. Especially when contrasted with Anya that knows everything through telepathy while Yor is in the dark and more than happy to believe the flimsiest cover story. It sort of subverts the traditional capable hitman trope.

I’m actually getting ahead of myself. My favourite scene in this episode, and it was hard to choose as I enjoyed a lot of them, was the meet-cute. In the dress shop, we started by seeing how much Anya and Loid’s relationship has progressed. She’s yelling about getting sold into slavery and he jokes that she won’t if she behaves. It’s not that different from before but you can tell they are much more at ease with each other. Anya doesn’t keep trying to escape and Loid isn’t freaking out about saying the wrong thing. And they seem happy to

In walks Yor. Pretty, innocent Yor. If you read my blog regularly, you’ve probably heard me say at some point, that I like dorks. I really do, I just can’t help it. I want to hug them. And in Spy x Family, Yor is the biggest dork. She’s weirdly earnest, socially clumsy and most of the time just really wants to make everyone happy. And she always has such simple solutions to every little problem. Loid lucked out when he was randomly choosing a fake wife. Ok, maybe her career ambitions could wear a bit on a normal relationship but these two crazy kids could make it work.

I think what I’m disliking the most about Spy x Family at this point, is the fact that I have to wait a week between episodes. I really wanted to just keep watching. The party was great, Yor got to have her pretty woman moment. The chase was fun and Loid’s completely unbelievable excuses were amusing. And that proposal, well what more could anyone hope for.

I think it’s pretty clear to anyone watching the show, and Anya of course, that these two are meant for each other. Now they just have to figure it out.

Coming up is the all-important family interview with the school. I really like all the scenes at Anya’s school. How will the family take in a new member all of the sudden? Anya and Loid have fallen into a rhythm but will Anya take to her new mom? Will Yor enjoy suddenly becoming a mom? And how is she going to explain all this to her brother? I can’t wait until next week, I think I’m not alone in that.

Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 3 Review – Family Ooting

I’m seeing some early whispers about Spy x Family being anime of the year. That’s an ambitious cal to make in the spring season with only 3 episodes out but I get it. These have been 3 really great episodes!

I had actually forgotten about the great ooting, although I did remember their little superhero moment at the end. Although I was really looking forward to the school interview, I’m glad we had an episode to see them getting used to each other. I have to agree with that old lady, they make for a wonderful family.

I really liked the little opening tag recap they did this week. Sounds weird, I know. With so many things going on in this show, that’s what I chose to talk about! The “previously on” segment. But it really struck me. When I’m interested n a show, I usually have a pretty good memory for what has happened on it and previously on segments tend to annoy me. It’s just a waste of time for me but you can’t easily skip them. Nothing dramatic just a small inconvenience.

And I definitely did not need a reminder of what had happened in the two first episodes of Spy x Family. I remember it in detail. Yet, I thought this tag was great. I loved how they quickly reminded us what Operation Strix is in the first place. I think that’s probably very easy to forget for most viewers and it really helps to get the proper context of the story and the recap of the events was so quick that it mostly served to get me excited about the episode I was about to watch. Well done recap!

And while I’m talking about things no one but me is going to care about, isn’t the Forgers’ new apartment great! Like really great. I was jotting down home decor tips while watching. I’m not sure if it’s my love of colours influencing me, but I never even noticed this apartment in the manga. But I really thought it was a great design element in the anime. It has so much character and creates a sense of space. It makes the Spy x Family universe a bit more tangible and therefore easier to just get lost in. I was a little disappointed that Anya finished off her home tour so quickly.

Oh and before I forget, last week I talked about the great OP but the ED is wonderful as well. If you guys have been skipping it, you should watch it. Both the music and the visuals are great!

But that’s because episode 3 of Spy x Family wasn’t about home decoration. Shocking, I know! It was about giving a chance to our characters to actually come together as a family. A real one. One that’s not perfect all the time. We already saw that Anya and Loid make an absolutely fantastic odd couple but how will that work out with Yor in the mix?

I think I mentioned it, to me Yor is a big dork. Sure, she’s a very good killer. She would have to be to have survived this long. But in every other aspect, she’s just a sweet but awkward girl who doesn’t always think things through. At all. For those of you who are anime-only, are you curious about Yor’s brother? What do you guys think he’ll be like? And if there are any manga readers here, please don’t spoil it!

While Loid was trying to shape them into the ideal upper-class family and Anya and Yor were getting to know each other better, we also got to know them all just a little more. We were reminded just how anxious Anya is about being discovered as a telepath. How scared she is that she will be thrown away. We also saw that little Anya is starting to realize there’s a difference between her romanticized ideas of what an assassin is and Yor’s actual reality. And that’s scary. Not that she has anything to worry about, her new mama seems very charmed by her.

We also learned that Yor may be taking her professional interests a bit too far with her… appreciation of the tools of her trade. And she is a true professional, always taking her double life into consideration. But ultimately, she’s a kind girl. One that deeply wants people to be happy and cares about those around her. As far as Yor is concerned, Loid and Anya are doing her a favour by letting her be the mom, and she really doesn’t want to let anybody down!

As for Loid, he didn’t get the spotlight as much this week. In many ways, Loid is the straight man of the trio and that’s always a thankless job. But he still got a chance to shine in the end. He showed off his cool heroic side that we’ve all come to admire. Because Loid is a cool liar after all…but is he? Cool may be an affectation that he needs for the job, but deep down is that really his natural inclination?

After all, Loid is kind of pusillanimous ( I had to look that word up). He is very quick to give up. Every little obstacle and he’s ready to throw in the towel and call the operation a failure. He also overthinks everything. I understand it’s part of the job but it’s also the opposite of a cool guy trade. Not to mention that he’s just one huge softie. He may act gruff at times, but at the end of the day, one pleading look for his daughter and he’ll drop everything to get her the world. I bet he would do the same for his wife now as well.

Actually, I take it back. That might be exactly what makes him so cool in the first place.

Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 4 Review – The Elegant Family

Is it just me or does that cow look like it has Kiss makeup on? That’s all I could think about. I can’t even name a Kiss song and yet the makeup somehow just conjures up instant recognition for me.

Like I’ve mentioned before, the Academy entrance interview, was one of my favourite early parts of the manga and I was looking forward to seeing how it would get adapted. I’m making it sound like it’s all important and singular, I actually like most of the manga this isn’t all that special. But I remember thinking that bringing the action to this school setting added just a great bit of mean girl commentary. and I happen to enjoy the genre.

The lead-up and stampede were just as crazy here and if anything felt a bit less out of nowhere if you can believe that. Or maybe it’s just easier to accept the second time around. But you know, I don’t mind a bit of suspension-shattering nonsense when it’s done for a reason, and this was a great bit of traditional absurdist comedy. The Forger’s supernatural preparedness and how they snap into new and more lavish outfits each time is a gag that is more than worth all the setup for me. just love this type of humour. And Spy x Family makes great use of it.

However, the interview took me by surprise. Of course, I knew what would happen. Almost word for word, but still, this was new to me.

one thing I will say is that Anya is wonderfully expressive. Yes, she always made all those faces but now, she fidgets a lot, she shudders, she huffs lightly when she’s offscreen. Her presence is so much bigger than her character. And that has made me care about Anya a lot more. As you can imagine, this interview was a bit of a rollercoaster.

The entire sequence was full of great moments and character growth. Loid and Yor talking about their family and realising that there might be a lot more truth than fiction in their answers. Anya being her adorable self and melting everyone’s heart by proclaiming that her parents are the best. Then shattering those melted pieces somehow but tearing up when thinking of her mother. I am going to assume that this is a scene a lot of anime fans are going to remember.

But for me, it was the great agent Twilight losing his cool that really dove it home. Not once mind you, sure, seeing his daughter cry was the last straw but he had been annoyed by jabs at his wife for a while before. And for a moment, the happiness of his “family” was more important than the mission. And even though that’s not something that should happen, I was still impressed. And his parting lines were fantastic.

I think the Forgers will be ok this time. as it seems there are also some very elegant teachers left. But even greater challenges seem to lie ahead!

Spy X Family Season 1 Episode 5 Review – Meet the Loidman Family

I do like how the episode started out. That old teacher is a great character and I liked that he called Loid, Elegant Boy, like he’s a superhero sidekick. I guess that was somewhat foreshadowing in a way. I also really liked the phone at the Forgers’ residence. I know, it’s a weird thing to focus on but I loved that design.

Everything was going swimmingly. Anya finally got into the private school. They got to celebrate and luckily both Yor and that informant guy seemed to be happy drunks. There is something very nerve-racking about watching a drunk Yor even when she’s just being a sweetheart. It’s like watching a weapon of mass destruction teetering on a ledge. It’s just not something you can relax around!

However, even though that setup took up at least half of the episode in runtime, it felt like the only thing that really happened was the happy fun time castle adventure. If someone asked me what episode 5 of Spy x Family was about, I would tell them, they went to a castle and acted out a spy series for Anya. as a reward for her getting into that school.

And I’m just going to give it to you straight guys, I wasn’t crazy about that happy castle adventure. It wasn’t bad at all. There were a few really cute moments and it’s always fun getting to see Loid get a chance to do his super cool guy act. If this was in another show, I’m sure I would have liked it. But this is the very first time I was watching a Spy x Family episode and looking forward to what happens next while watching it instead of afterwards.

In fact, I was really thinking this might be a filler episode. I didn’t remember it at all in the manga despite remembering pretty clearly everything that happened up until now and what happens next. But I looked it up and it is in the manga. In my defence, it’s only about 6 pages at the end of chapter 6 and way more streamlined than what we got in this week’s episode, but it is generally there.

Don’t get me wrong, like I said, there were still some really great moments. I actually laughed out loud when Yor started attacking Loid in a drunken stupor as her evil witch character and his only thought was “why is she using physical attacks when she’s a witch?” Nice dedication to the bit!

So at the end of the day, this was the episode I liked the least so far. Keep in mind that I really really liked every single episode so far. I would give it an A-…

Spy x Family Season 1 episode 6 Review – Like Mother, Like Daughter

I really love the school uniforms in Spy x Family. I enjoyed them in black and white but the gold details really bring out the opulence of it all. And I like how the girls’ and boys’ uniforms really play off each other. I wonder if they are modelled off any real school uniforms?

There is something happening in the background of Spy x Family. In the early episodes, we heard Yor’s coworkers talking about how people were just being taken away without warning by authorities on suspicion of being spies. Now we learn that there have been a number of kidnappings targetting rich families. There’s something rotten afoot. Most authoritarian regims, that would indiscriminately put away civilians without trial on flimsy suspicions, would also not allow kidnappings. They would have cracked down hard on that. But we have been getting clues about how fractured this society is for a while. So far it’s really only been flavour but what an interesting flavour to put in!

Let’s get back to the more personal and compelling story here. I really enjoyed that the Forgers got a frequent customer discount at the tailor shop. I was just thinking to myself that they have been there almost every episode and then the show acknowledged it point-blank. If anyone ever figures out that Loid is Twilight, they are going to be convinced the tailor shop is a front for something.

It’s no secret that I enjoy a good strong mother character. Actually, I enjoy positive parental figures in anime in general. This is a good show for me! Yor is a bit of a special case though because she’s a stepmother, a stereotypical one at that in many ways. She thinks Anya is adorable and likes her but she’s only met her rather recently. She wants to be liked and she talks to Anya softly and in that friendly casual manner adults talk to children when they want to get along. But parents almost never talk to their kids that way. There’s still a gap.

On the other hand, Anya is a complete subversion of this. First of all, she was actually an orphan a little while ago so to her Yor isn’t an interloper, she’s a necessary role to fill. Secondly, as a telepath, Anya already knows Yor pretty well. You speed up the learning about someone’s process quite a bit when you can read all their thoughts. So for Anya, it’s already a done deal. Yor is her mama and also Yor is super cool. It’s just that Yor has to also get comfortable with that role.

And this episode went a long way to bridging that gap. When Anya was in trouble, she wasn’t just a child Yor needed to protect, she was her daughter. And there were no questions about that. It was pretty.

What that sequence also did, in a marvellous way, was clearly tell us that there is no specific or right way to be a mother. There were no big speeches about it, no snooty bystanders to prove wrong. It was just a given if you watched the show. You immediately understand that Yor is Anya’s mom not because she’s gentle or teaches her how to cook and clean or something like that. She’s her mother because she deeply cares about her.

Also, let’s take bets. How long before these two and their newfound camaraderie leads to Loid getting an ulcer? A week maybe?

You know, I thought I would have nothing to say yet here we are and I haven’t even started on Anya’s first day at the academy. I do like how Damian is portrayed. Perfectly unlikeable and yet. The hands in the pockets when he was called up to the stage were a perfect touch. It’s slightly disrespectful but also so casual that you have to figure he didn’t put any thought into it. This is a boy who is perfectly relaxed in this situation because he’s never had to be nervous about anything. There have never been any stakes for him.

And privilege is a very important theme in this school. From the gilded uniforms to the connection favouring selection process. Loid’s description of Anya’s classmates perfectly summarized what systemic privilege is and how insidious it can be. It’s almost irrelevant how well these kids do in school, they will always be childhood friends of a whole bunch of very powerful people in the future and they can survive off that.

OK, I’m going off a bit too far on a tangent here. Instead, let’s talk about this. I remember the punch from the manga. Clearly. It was a very satisfying panel. But it’s so much more fun aimated. Did you see that kid fly! Yor is an amazing teacher. I generally haven’t double guessed the story of Spy x Family at all, however, I think there was a serious lost opportunity here.

When Loid was told that Anya punched the boy she was supposed to be getting close to, he should have insisted on apologizing to the parents in person. Right? I’m not complaining though, poor Loid is just trying to survive at this point. You can’t expect him to be on top of everything. And it looks like he’s in for another long week from the looks of the preview!

Spy x Family Season episode 7 – Extended Family

In this week’s Spy x Family, second son Damian realizes something most of us have known for a while now, Anya is gosh darn adorable when she wants to be…

But before I get into another great episode, I just want to go on a little tangent. Feel free to skip it to below the first screencap block. I have been paying slightly closer attention to what the larger anime fan community thinks of Spy x Family. I quite like the show and I want to hear what other folks think. In this process, I have come across an unnerving amount of people openly sexualizing Anya. Whether it’s in adult fanworks or just expressing how they would like to “impregnate” the four-year-old character. It’s not like I’m going into ecchi forums or 4 chan here, this is just very easy to find and prevalent.

I know Anya is a fictional character but it still makes me super uncomfortable to the point where I felt a bit awkward calling her adorable. k, that’s it, I just needed to vent this discomfort. For me it was a this is why we can’t have nice things moment.

Spy x Family episode 8 – Family-In-Law

Oh wow, this is just my first block of screencaps and it’s already taking up this much space. And look at everything that happened in the first act. We better get to it!

So just like that, Spy x Family decided to remind us that it is, in some ways, supposed to be a spy thriller. And what better way to do that than to introduce the shadowy and ruthless government organization opposing our valiant spy heroes! And of course, Yor’s brother would be part of that organization. Naturally! There really was no other way.

And obviously, he was going to have some deep-rooted but unexplained personal vendetta against Twilight. What do you think this is! Amateur hour? There’s a certain order to things, and this is it!

Yes, Yuri’s introduction, his circumstances and really his whole character is a collection of clichés (just like many things about the show, or are they?!?), it happens to be a collection of clichés I really like. The meddlesome well-meaning close friend or family member that happens to be just too meddlesome. Secret enemies actually end up becoming close without ever realizing who the other one is. I eat that stuff up.

And for what It’s worth, I think Yuri had a really great introduction in general. The juxtaposition of his seemingly sweet demeanour, everyone calling him adorable and like a puppy, clashes with how ruthless and determined he is. It’s striking and sets the character apart. You instantly think of him as an actually credible opponent for Twilight, something that has not existed so far in this show… I’m getting to it…

You know what was really cute, in that scene where Anya is watching her spy show. It’s my last screencap in the first block. Loid realizes that she seems to be learning a lot better when the material (in this case math) is presented through her show.

That’s sweet enough, but then, in the next scene, Yor comes home flustered to warn them about Yuri’s visit. Loid and Anya are sitting side by side on the couch reading, she’s reading volume 8 I think of Spy Wars and he’s reading volume 1. No one mentions it and they don’t do anything more with it in this episode but I thought it was an adorable moment of both character and relationship building.

Not even a single thought for the mission huh Loid. It’s all, is this man going to harm our family… Oh man, the boss was right in the first scene. You are getting soft! And I love it!

The evening went as you would expect. Anyone that has watched enough comedic thrillers knows how these things go. Someone will get drunk. Surprisingly not Yor although only because Loid intervened much to her chagrin. And it seems a taste for wine is a Briar family trait. There will be ridiculous questions and silly challenges about proving the relationship that will bring the two leads closer. Of course, they are going to have to kiss kiss kiss at some point.

I’m not saying this episode was mould-breaking or anything. But it was the perfect place to showcase some of that wonderful SpyxFamily charm and add in the now signature subversion this show has been doing so well.

Loid is charming, he just is. And regardless of motives, he is a pretty good husband. He’s attentive, caring and kind to his family. He listens to them, which I am realizing now is not a very common trait in anime parents I have seen. It was always going to be hard for Yuri to hate him. But it also reminded us, that we kind of love him as well.

And Yor is charming. I do like Yuri quite a lot but if I had to pick an adorable sibling, my vote would go to Yor. I have to admit, I laughed out loud when Yor was just constantly blood-drenched in that flashback. The first scene was fun enough but then every subsequent scene… it’s a good thing that when it comes to his sister, Yuri’s logic goes out the window! But Yor titters on the line of manic pixie dream girl from time to time. She is almost perfect, her flaws being the endearing type. So seeing her interact with her brother was a great way to flesh out the character. Humanize her and make her feel more like a person than a fantasy.

Anya was in bed, or else it would have been a charming overload. Yuri would not have stood a chance!

I know I talked about Yuri being a worthy opponent. I mentioned Twilight getting soft. But in the end, there is still no true match for Twilight, at least not in the intelligence game. His family might bury him otherwise but when it comes to the spy stuff, he’s still the champs. So SpyxFamily smoothly subverted the unknowing enemies trope and had Loid basically figure out everything within minutes. Maybe an hour. Changing the whole game and making it now about how he can better use Yuri. Carefully of course.

But we also know that Loid is well… Loid. He is not going to do anything to hurt Yor if he can help it. So odds are that he’s going to end up being a kind and caring brother-in-law to a high-strung siscon. This poor guy. I can’t wait to watch more!

The SPY x FAMLY manga has been as compared to the first anime season

The plot of the show’s anime television is inspired by the SPY x FAMILY manga by author Tatuysa Endo. The mangaka began his profession as an assistant for Blue Exorcist before he began making single-shot manga stories along with the editor Shihei Lin.

When the original concept was created the title of the work was written as a Japanese in supaihuamiri. Mangaka and the editor chose to write the title official with English as well as the cross in the title was inspired through Hunter x Hunter. Contrary to the original however, it is claimed that the team behind the production calls the title simply Spy Family, with the “x” being silent.

The series is published monthly within Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus magazine from March 25 in 2019, the series was running until Volume 9 by April 4, 2022. Each chapter is referred to as”mission” and each chapter is referred to as “mission” and the tankobon volumes contain extra (omake) chapters. The 9th volume ended in Chapter 61.

The publisher VIZ Media has been publishing the official SPY Manga x FAMILY’s English version for North America. Three chapters in the beginning as well as the last three chapters are available at no cost on VIZ Media’s website (you need to pay for in-between chapters). Its English volumes are currently up to Volume 7 in April 2022 and Volume 8 is scheduled for launch on September 20, 2022.

There’s there was a lot of heart into the adaptation of anime. The adaptation faithfully transfers the manga’s original material, while also adding minor details such as the family portrait and Anya shifting from joy to terrified when Loid is able to get into Edgar’s house and she realizes it’s him , despite his disguise.

Certain episodes featured anime-inspired content that extended the manga’s concept but without the feeling of filler. For instance Episode 3 featured Anya taking a tour of the home to Yor that’s exactly the kind of thing that a child would perform in actual life. (The one drawback to these changes is that they diverted from the story’s main point of Loid being sad that her family won’t ever be a part of the Operation Strix plan.)

The show even hinted at the future story episodes. The scene of drawing in Episode 3 was a hint of Bond. The flashback of Loid’s early childhood from Episode 1 brought terrifying details that did not begin to be revealed until the most recent manga Chapter 62.1 that was released in April 2022.

There were however some modifications that were made to make the series more suitable for anime. It was interesting that the murderous shootings and bloody stabbings in Yor’s murder were removed from the screen. The moment when Loid’s face was shadowed face was not as terrifying. The most popular scene of the show that Loid made a proposal to Yor using a grenade-pin initially featured bloody, flying body parts visible in the background.

Episode 1 even cut out the insinuations of Edgar as he killed the man he was with. However, these events happened fast enough that it would be difficult to express the moment-to-moment details of what Anya felt in her mind in comparison to the ability to read within the Manga.

There were also funny moments when Anya’s thoughts or expressions were the punchlines, but the animation didn’t stop long enough for the humor to breath before moving ahead. The animation simply doesn’t keep up with the speed of the manga and its comic timing.

In addition, the adaptation’s pace was excellent for Part 1. Episode 1 only modified Chapter 1 because it’s 71 pages, more than twice that of the normal monthly chapter. And Episode 2 modified Chapter 2 with 55 pages.

Episode 3 was a mere adaptation of the chapter’s 27 pages 3 In the same way, as mentioned , the studio for anime padded the story with anime-inspired scenes. Episode 4 premiered to attain the highest level of elegance A more conventional adaptation that of Chapter 4, 5 and 4.

Note The article is scheduled to be revised with further information over time

In the end it is predicted that the conclusion of the premiere season’s final episode SPY x FAMILY Episode 25 will be in the same vein as Volume 7 Chapter 42, or 43.

It’s an excellent stopping point as Loid finally hits a significant moment within Operation Strix: making contact with his intended target Donovan Desmond for the first time.

Some manga fans might suggest that ending the exciting SPY x FAMILY: Great Cruise Adventure Arc would be a better place to stop. The issue is that pace of the story would be too rapid as the story arc concludes with Chapter 57. This would have required the skip of bonus chapters and thereby expanding the pace of adaptation by an average 2.5 manga chapters per episode.

In fact, as a large portion in the first 15 chapters in the SPY family: Great Cruise Adventure Arc is action-packed, the story would be better served as an SPY family movie, like Demon Slayer: Mugen Train however, the running time is likely to be longer than the norm for a film based on anime.

Making the next story arc adaptable in a movie could allow mangaka Endo the time to write enough chapters for SPY x Family Season 2.

SPY X FAMILY Season 2 release date predictions Renewal highly likely

In the latest report, Studio CloverWorks, WIT Studio, Shueisha Productions, producer Toho animation or any other company that is related in the creation of the series have not yet publicly confirmed that the SPY Family Season 2 release date. Also, the production of the SPY x FAMILY sequel been officially announced.

If the news is confirmed, this article will be updated with pertinent details.

At present, there’s a possibility to speculate the date, or even if when, or if the SPYxFAMILY Season 2 release date will be in the near future.

The reviews of the SPY x FAMILY have been ablaze since Episode 1. Within a matter of days, the initial season was able to make it into its place in the Top 10 most popular anime ever on MyAnimeList.

It became so popular that some fans of anime started causing controversy by requesting that the studios get SPY x FAMILY “cancelled” over certain anime scenes that are allegedly “sexualizing” Any Forger. A fan artist had created art depicting a Black Any, Loid, and Yor, it triggered another SPY x FAMILY scandal.

In Japan In Japan, it was reported that the SPY x ANIME series was so popular that it was announced that a SPY A x FAMILY musical and a subsequent SPY A. FAMILY cafe event were nearly immediately announced. It was reported that the SPY family Episode 1 premiere had a 3.1 percentage rating, meaning that approximately 3.1 percent of Japanese viewers watched the premier.

It’s similar to weekly One Piece episodes’ average of 3.0 to 4.0 percent, and higher than the 2.4 percent ratings from Attack On Titan: The Final Season and Lupin III Part 6 at 2.9 percent. It’s still not super well-known since Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 1 received a 10% rating (although in Episode 4, it was down to 4%). Mugen Train Arc TV show dropped to 4percent).

Similar to the way that the SPY x FAMILY series’ initial season was usually placed in the top 3 of the list of popular Crunchyroll anime during the spring of 2022. It’s not as popular as it was the Golden Kamuy anime, which was popular enough in Japan to be approved in time for Golden Kamuy Season 4 but struggled to get international traction.

Spy x Family: The Briar RoseA fan-made animated version of Yor’s appearance of her role as an assassin.

Another important factor was the increase in sales of the manga SPY x FAMLY in Japan. The show was already well-known prior to the time that the anime debuted in 2022’s Spring.

In November 2021 In November 2021, in November 2021, the Spy x Family manga had more than 12.5 million copies of the manga in circulation. In order to put 12.5 million copies into perspective it is worth noting that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga did not surpass twelve million until close of November in 2020. That was nearly two months after it was released. Jujutsu Kaisen anime premiered.

One month prior to that the Tokyo Revengers anime premiered in Spring 2021, the manga had only 8.5 million copies on the market. The popularity of anime led to that the Tokyo Revengers manga to reach 50 million copies by the beginning of January 2022. The Tokyo Revengers Season 2 anime was already announced.

It is probable that the SPY family manga’s circulation will see the same increase and is a major deal given that Manga publisher Shueisha is on the production committee for anime. After that SPY x FAMILY Episode 1 premiere, the manga sold sixteen million units. The manga started selling half one million copies a each week across Japan and the manga had reached 17 million copies towards the end of April 2022 with sales of 2,303,434 copies in the month.

In the week that ended the month of April, 2022 SPY Family sold 557,527 copies according to the Oricon ranking of the manga’s weekly sales. That means that the SPY Family manga had surpassed Tokyo Revengers, Jujutsu Kaisen along with Golden Kamuy combined (485,106 copies)!

The 9th of May in 2022 The editor for the SPY Family manga announced via Twitter that the manga has surpassed 18 million copies available! A new reprint of the manga Volume 1 will include an announcement band that wraps around the accomplishment. The 29th of May in 2022 the editor also said that circulation had exceeded 21 million copies. This means that an astonishing 8.5 copies were released within a mere two months.

With all of these factors it’s highly likely for the animation production board to get SPY x FAMLY renewed for the second season. The only question is when pre-production will begin because anime studios are already booked for the next couple of years.

As mentioned above that the creators from SPY x FAMILY have also created Attack On Titan. Despite the phenomenal popularity in AoT Season 1 (the first week of sales of Blu-Ray/DVDs had 56,793 units sold) the series languish for four years, which could have lost some of its profits possibilities (Season two sold 6,603 DVD/BD copies in its initial week of 2017). Given that they have already had the SPY x Family manga’s popularity to determine the future popularity of the series, it’s likely they’ll repeat the same mistake.

If the production is scheduled to be released ahead of schedule in 2022 by TOHO Animation, it’s possible that the SPY Family Season 2 release will be the latter half of 2023 or in early 2024.

However, that could depend on whether or not the SPY the Family Great Cruise Adventure Arc (Cruise Daibouken) is turned into a film. If the next major story arc is made into film and the SPY x FAMILY film may be released in 2023, and then Spy x Family Season 2 is expected to be released at least one year after that.

Conclusion About Spy X Family Season 2

SpyxFamily is among the most popular Manga that comes from Shonen Jump, which won’t be boring like other romance-based anime. It’s a natural blend of action, spy-fiction and romance as well as comedy. It’s a great way to enjoy the Manga was a big hit and we’re hopeful that the anime is able to live up for the Manga.
