Cyberpunk: What are Edgerunners All About?

The writers have given us much to work with in terms of what to expect from the series. Here’s the official synopsis:

This description only covers the basics, but it did give us some insight into the abilities and characters we will be seeing. Lucy is our first glimpse into a major character. She has been described as an introverted, reticent individual who is an Edgerunner for unknown purposes. Lucy is a character who is a formidable combatant, but has a mysterious past. It reminds me of Agent May in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Lucy also has a nanowire mod which allows her to cut any metal or bone. So we can expect grim scenes when she fights.

David is the second protagonist. He is also the “street child” described in the official synopsis. He begins as a normal human being, but ends up becoming a criminal and possessing a unique ability that the writers call Sandevistan. Sandevistan, a spinal injection of adrenaline that gives David super speed, is basically a modification.

It essentially gives David super speed for brief bursts that look almost like a superhero like Flash. We see him storming into a room, picking up a girl and shooting a few people without them reacting. This ability is likely to have some kind of recharge or limiting factor. However, it makes David look like a formidable fighter.

The show will feature a lot of fighting, but the showrunners wanted to highlight the everyday uses for this technology. Although you won’t get a modification that allows you to dance better in the game, it might interest you as a Night City resident. The writers shared a common philosophy: they wanted to portray a realistic view of life in Night City for everyone.

What is Cyberpunk? Edgerunners Rated

The new series is rated in the United States TV-MA. Some episodes in the UK are rated at 15, 18 and 18. This series offers a mature and hard look at another side of Night City. One of the writers gives Lucy’s use nanowire to remove the Maelstrom’s gang members’ limbs as a great scene. Also, anime gore is a thing.
