USIU-Kofu is a private university located in Fukuoka, Japan. It was founded in 1966 and has since become one of the leading universities in the country. Shiori shared that Ushio and Mio were shopping at Kobe Mart on July 17th when they were followed by a similar-looking man. Ushio thinks this was a creepy and tells Shiori to report it to Tetsu Totsumura. However, Shiori is disappointed that they won’t take Shiori seriously and says he won’t be able do anything.
Ushio assists with the cleaning of the beach on 18th. Ushio sees a flash, and she turns to see her shadow. She tries to follow her but she loses her. Shiori comes to her and tells Shiori that she believes in her.
Mio believes that Shinpei will arrive this year. Ushio, on the other hand, says she doesn’t care. Mio teases her about it, claiming that she really loves him and doesn’t mean it. Ushio heads for a shower, but Shadow Ushio is there. Ushio attempts to call Mio but Shadow Ushio prevents her. She tells her that she is Ushio Kofune, and returned to her home. But she hid when she saw Ushio and Mio. They both think that the Shadow is Shiori’s Shadow. They remember that Shiori said she saw her Shadow on Mount Takanosu for the first time and agree to investigate.
They head up the mountain but can’t find anything. Shadow Ushio sees a sign indicating that it is dangerous ahead, and decides to go for it. They arrive at the Hishigata family hospital, where there were rumours of hauntings. Everyone avoids it. Shadow Ushio feels like he has been there before. They hear a noise and then see a Shadow with a crow. The Shadow flashes and copies Ushio. Shadow Ushio is then pinched to a tree by the third Ushio. Ushio attempts attack the third Ushio but her attacks have no effect.
Ushio accidentally hits her shadow, injuring the third Ushio. Ushio then kicks Ushio. Shadow’s Ushio shadow is then injured when Third Ushio stabs her leg. Shadow Ushio initially is shocked, but she soon realizes that Shadow’s weakness, their flat shadow, is what makes them human. Shadow Ushio uses her hair to free third Ushio from her arm. Shadow Ushio then follows third Ushio, realizing that her shadow is her body and the projected body is a tool to protect it.
She chases third Ushio, and she slashes her shadow. Ushio informs Shadow Ushio she is cool. Shadow Ushio flashes and updates her information, copies her data on her healthy feet and heals herself. Shadow Ushio says that she will eventually vanish, but that if she kills Ushio, she will be the original. Ushio is the one she instinctively wants to kill. Ushio understands why it is said that you will die when you see your Shadow or that Shiori are in danger.
Shadow Ushio imitates Ushio on the 21st in her swimsuit at the beach. Ushio asks Shadow Ushio to be her shell necklace, and Shadow Ushio transforms into it. Ushio puts on the necklace, and then takes the real one from her bag. Shiori, who was distracted by Akari at the time, ended up in the water and is now drowning. Ushio is told by Shadow Ushio that she sees a Shadow beneath the water. Mio tells Tokiko that she left Akari to Tokiko. She wants to help Sou with her homework, but Ushio stops her and asks them to give it to her. Ushio leaps into the water to swim to Shiori who is being pulled deeper underwater by Shadow Shiori. Shadow Ushio returns to her Ushio form, and cuts Shadow Shiori’s arms.
She grabs Shiori, and then she heads towards the surface. Shadow Shiori’s arm remains on her. Shadow Shiori surrounds her with shadow arms to immobilize them. Ushio pulls Shadow Shiori from them, but Shadow Shiori begins strangling her. Ushio tells Shadow Ushio that she will continue to save Shiori and to ignore Ushio. Shadow Shiori follows Shadow Ushio and asks them to stop.
