What is Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion about?

J.R. Villarreal (“Akeela the Bee”) has been cast in the role of Cruz de la Vega (a luchador wrestle coach with the secret superhero identity of “Black Scorpion”) in Disney Channel’s new live action comedy series. Scarlett Estevez (“BUNK’D”) plays Violet Rodriguez, a Latinx teenager, who is selected by a magical luchador to become a superhero like her uncle, Black Scorpion.

Marianna Burelli plays Violet’s mother Nina, Juan Alfonso portrays Violet’s father Juan Carlos, and Brandon Rossel portrays Violet’s brother Santiago. Zelia Ankrum plays Violet’s best friend Maya Miller-Martinez. Bryan Blanco is Violet’s classmate Luis Leon.

Premise

The series unfolds as a magical luchador mask selects 13-year-old Violet to become Ultra, the superhero successor to her uncle, Cruz de la Vega and a superhero-in-disguise. Ultra starts her secret superhero training alongside her uncle while also navigating the ups and downs that middle school brings. Uncle Cruz discovers that he can learn from Ultra’s modern Gen-Z approach to crime-fighting as they work together.
