Format
Teenagers take part in an immersive scripted adventure set in a high-fantasy setting called the Kingdom of Everealm. The adventure revolves around the fantasy storyline and involves various challenges. The contestants interact with actors throughout the competition. However, the real challenges and their outcomes are determined by contestants’ decisions and abilities. The reboot, unlike the 2014 series, is almost entirely presented in the style of a traditional scripted drama with very few reality TV devices like confessionals and eliminations. This would allow the participants to fully immerse themselves in the adventure scenario.
Production
Court Five, The New Media Collective and Scout Productions produced The Quest. They also produced The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It was filmed on location in Calistoga, California at Castello di Amorosa. Filming was originally planned at Burg Kreuzenstein, but due to the CoVID-19 pandemic, production was moved to Castello di Amorosa in Napa Valley. Production took place between January 2021 and March 2021.
Jane Fleming, Mark Ordesky, Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri from Court Five are the executive producers of the series; Mark Dziak, Mark Dziak, Mark Dziak and Bertram Van Munster from The New Media Collective; Rob Eric, Michael Williams, and David Collins from Scout Productions. Mike Foley serves as showrunner.

Plot
Tavora, a dark sorceress and her Dark Legion are determined to conquer the magical realm of Everealm. King Magnus of Sanctum falls in battle and entrusts the mythical Divine Crown to him along with his footsoldier Mila. They will bring the Divine Crown to his three children, Adaline, Cedric, and Emmett–heirs of the throne. Mila arrives in Oraa in order to deliver the Crown. The heirs are hiding under King Magnus’s brother, King Silas, and Magnus’s advisor, Dravus (a palace mage).
Eight American teenagers are also summoned by the Fate Talmuh from the United States to Oraa to retrieve the Divine Crown and to redeem the bond between Everealm, the three Fates and Everealm. The eight teens are called “Paladins” and must retrieve the four Gems for Virtue from the Divine Crown. These and other challenges will test the Paladins’ ability to be heroes. Each challenge is marked with a talisman. The most outstanding Paladin wins a talisman. The accumulation of talismans helps determine the Paladins who might seek the fifth gem in the Divine Crown, the Kingstone. This will allow them to be proclaimed the “One True Hero” and have the power to save Everealm.

The Paladins divided the group based on how many talismans they had accumulated. Each Paladin selected one member to take part in the trial for Kingstone. David, who had the most talismans was selected as the first Paladin. Holden was the first Paladin to be selected, holding 2 talismans each. Serean, Ava and Holden were also in the second group. Toshani was selected from the rest of the Paladins. Toshani was chosen as the One True Hero after Holden, the Paladin who completed the trial. He was also the one who retrieved the Kingstone.
