STORYLINE
PAST
Shira has had a lot of experience. His skills were displayed when he helped Gaara in his new position Kazekage to optimize his Tai-jutsu. This is a testimony to the fact that Shira is very proficient in tai jutsu. He was not officially a shinobi until he passed the new chunin exams. This is because, unlike Lee, he does not have the Yondaime Kazekage rule which forbids people like Shira to become ninjas.
Only his comrades Sen, Yome and Yome saw how Shira was affected by the actions of other children and how difficult he tried to become a Ninja. His parents died sometime between his formal appointment as a Ninja and his participation at the new chunin selection exam. This always worried him.
NEW CHUNIN SELECTION TRIALS
He took part in the Chunin selection exam. The first part was the written exam in Konohagakure. This was also sponsored in part by his country’s capital. Then, he returned to Suna to join his fellow exam-takers to take part the second part. He planned to join the Wind Empire battalion that protects the country’s northern borders. He knew that Lee’s fight would be his last because his village was close to the battalion.
TECHNIQUES & SPECIAL ABILITIES
Shira is not a skilled nin-jutsu fighter or gen-jutsu fighter. However, his experiences have made him a better Tai-Jutsu instructor. Gaara was not used to close combat because of his lack of experience. He was also strong enough, as he proved during the chunin selection exam, to challenge Lee as an equal taijutsu fighter. He was also able to defeat Neji’s Hakke Rokujuuyon Shou.
This is an incredible feat.During Lee’s fight, it was revealed that he had not only created his modified Hachimon Tonkou but also developed his own fighting style, Muon No Ken which allows him to fight silently.
