Natsume Yuujinchou: A Quick Recap

Natsume Yuujinchou, or Natsume’s Book of Friends, is the story of Takashi Natsume. He is a strange boy who has been continually chased by spirits or youkai. Soon, he discovers that Reiko, his grandmother, passed the Yuujinchou, or Book of Friends, to him.

The Book of Friends contains the names of the youkais, or spirits that she has taken under her control. Since the book is now in Natsume’s possession, he also has this power. This is why spirits are always hunting him down to try and get their freedom.

The Book of Friends, considered the most valuable possession in the spirit realm, is sought by two types of spirits. The first is those who wish to have their contract terminated and released from servitude. The second is the one who wishes to kill Natsume in order to obtain the Book of Friends. This is where Natsume meets Madara, also known as Nyanko–sensei. She acts as a bodyguard for Natsume and an advisor. He has his reasons to stay with him.

Will Natsume Yuujinchou Season Seven Happen?

It is possible that Natsume Yuujinchou will return to the screen due to the popularity of the series. Aniplex (Fullmetal Alchemist & Sword Art Online), Sony Music Entertainment & My Hero Academia (Code Geass & My Hero Academia), Nihon Ad System & Kuroko No Basket, TV Tokyo Music (Naruto & One Punch Man) are producing Natsume Yuujinchou. The first season aired in summer 2008. It featured thirteen episodes.

The producers have not yet announced the renewal of this series. Natsume Yuujinchou appeared in the first issue of the shoujo manga magazine LaLa DX, in 2005. The series was then moved to LaLa in 2008! Yuki Midorikawa illustrated and wrote it. It was one of the finalists in the Manga Taisho Award 2008. Even though the manga has been out for a while, its popularity has not diminished. MyAnimeList has given the first anime season an 8.32 rating from 150,000+ users. The rating for the new season is 8.8.

Natsume Yuujinchou has many stories to tell in terms of source material. There are 27 volumes of the manga, with the most recent being released September 3, 2021. There have been many seasons of anime, as well as drama CDs and movies. On January 16, 2021, Natsume’s Book of Friends: Natsume the Waking Rock and the Strange Visitor was released in cinemas.

Natsume Yuujinchou Season 7 Release Date

As mentioned above, no producers have yet announced anything about Natsume Yuujinchou’s renewal. Although it is too soon to rule out the possibility of the season continuing on a smaller screen, Two movies have already been made about the adventures of Natsume. The first movie, Natsume’s Book of Friends: Ephemeral Bond was released in 2018. The second movie will be released in 2021.

Each episode of Natsume Yuujinchou is 13 in length. There’s a chance that the seventh season might have the same number of episodes. The anime’s opening theme, Furoria (huroria “Floria”) is sung and performed by Tomohisa Sako. The ending theme, Kimi no Uta (kiminouta) is sung and performed by Rei Yasuda. “Your Song”). Natsume Yuujinchou’s total number of episodes is 74, if you include all seasons one through six.

It’s premature to conclude that Natsume’s adventures will end with the sixth season. Even though it has been around for years, its popularity is not waning. It has managed to remain in the Top 100 Most Popular Anime in MyAnimeList. Although it might be a long wait, fans can still enjoy the OVA, movie or entire season in Crunchyroll.
