Ashura worked again with his Scabbards during Onagishima’s raid. He eventually died during the raid, having sacrificed himself to save his fellow Scabbards against Kanjuro’s schemes. Kanjuro was exposed as a traitor. He wanted to attack the Scabbards using a drawing of Oden filled with explosives. Ashura saved them, but he died in the blast.

After being fatally injured, the Scabbard was killed in an explosion to save his friends from a clone drawing by their leader, Kozuki Ode. Jack inquired about the Straw Hats and explained that Shutenmaru was only alive because Kaido wanted to be his subordinate. Shutenmaru declined this offer and punched Jack. The two men started fighting. Jack manages to injure Shutenmaru. Their duel was interrupted by Kaido, who flew in to request Jack bring the Straw Hats.
Kaido renewed Jack’s proposal and asked Shutenmaru for his subordinate. Shutenmaru refused to join them. He ordered his men into the forest to flee and then wondered if Kaido should be attacked. Basil Hawkins eventually turns his attention to Luffy and whereabouts. He is annoyed when he sees the destruction of Oden Castle’s ruins.
Shutenmaru ordered his men to retreat to the mountain after Luffy attacked Kaido. Shutenmaru witnessed Luffy unconscious knocking out some Yonko’s subordinates using Kings Haki, and realized that he had the power of Oden. He fled Okobore. Later, Inuarashi and Shutenmaru are seen fighting. Kin’emon requests them to end their duel.
Shutenmaru believes that he only has ties to Oden, and not his descendants through Momonosuke. He is seen running from his lair after Holdem’s Okobore village attack. His men warn him that he will not go to Bakura to confront Holdem. In a duel, Ashura defeats Kin’emon just moments after Yasuie’s demise.
After this, the latter apologizes to Ashura for his absence over the past 20 years and informs him about the raid on Onigashima. Ashura then asks them to come with him because he will show them something. Ashura, Kin’emon, and Inuarashi will see him again later. He shows them the graves a samurai who were killed in the Invasion at Onigashima 10 years ago. He explains to them that he joined the alliance to kill Kaido, Orochi.
Later, Ashura shows Kin’emon and Nekomamushi an abandoned port that contains all of the ships from all Wano ports. It can hold more than a thousand people. Ashura shows Kin’emon and Inuarashi the plan for Kaido’s home in Onigashima. He is surprised to learn that he wasn’t very active before. Ashura gathers with Shinobu and Hitetsu, who are part of the Straw Hat Crew to discuss a plan for attacking Kaido.
Ashura, along with the Red Scabbards & Momonosuke, learns that Hiyori has survived. Kawamatsu confirms that Hiyori is safe and he wonders if she is. Robin and Kin’emon were able to see him with them, and they could determine the strength of their enemies as well as their armed forces. The Red Scabbards Shinobu and Momonosuke then walk together to their point of rallying towards Tokage Port, Udon. Ashura Doji and the other Red Scabbards refuse to wait another year. They decided to travel to Onigashima by boat. The Scabbards set sail, and Momonosuke was left in port. Kin’emon was pondering the possibility that there might be a traitor among them. Kanjuro revealed that he was actually the mole. This revelation left the other scabbards stunned.
Kanjuro told Kin’emon what he did, but Kin’emon angrily beheaded Kanjuro. The real Kanjuro, however, was on the coast and had captured Momonosuke in order to bring him back home to Onigashima. During this, the Scabbards ship was confronted three ships of Beasts Pirates. However, the ships were attacked by the Straw Hats and Heart Pirates as well as the Kid Pirates. Law’s submarine Polar Tang then lifted the scabbard boats.
The scabbards saw Kyoshiro attack one of the Beasts Pirates ships when he arrived. Later, they were shocked to learn that Kyoshiro was Denjiro. He released the Flower Capital prisoners as well as the rebels who had gathered at Port Habu. Much to their relief, the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai allies arrived at Port Tokage on a massive fleet to begin the raid on Onigashima.

The scabbards talked with Law about the plan to enter Onigashima after Shishilian, Hyogoro and Hyogoro boarded on the Polar Tang. The Straw Hats defeated the guards at Onigashima’s entrance gates. After that, the Heart Pirates, Scabbards (except Kin’emon and Denjiro), broke through Onigashima’s rearside inside the Polar Tang. They were also contacted by Nekomamushi who had just arrived to plan to meet them at Onigashima.
Law and the scabbards were teleported by Law to Onigashima’s rear entry, where they were joined later by Nekomamushi and Izou. After Marco went to look for a shadow at sea, Law teleported himself and the scabbards with him to Onigashima’s rear entrance. Kaido was then attacked in full force. Kaido was injured when he fell to the floor below. Kaido, who was now a dragon, flew towards the Dome in his dragon form as the Allies attacked the Beasts Pirates. The scabbards grabbed him.
The Scabbards prepared for battle with Kaido using the Mink Tribe’s assistance on the roof. Jack and Number Nagi, who were there to assist Kaido, climbed up on the roof and watched as the Minks Sulong attacked their enemy. The minks rendered Jack and his troops incapacitated, so the Scabbards resumed their battle with Kaido.
Kaido launched lightning bolts at them, roaring. But they dodged him and each hit him. Kaido was confused by how their attacks could harm him. Raizo threw Kaido’s Boro Breath at him. Four of the scabbards, Ashura, Kin’emon, Denjiro and Inuarashi, countered Oden’s Nitoryu stance. They targeted Kaido’s scar with the exact same attack Oden used and also hurt him.
Big Mom, Kid Killer, Zoro and Luffy arrived on the roof after the Red Scabbards’ defeat. Law teleported Luffy’s scabbards safely to another location at Luffy’s request. They were taken to the treasure room on second floor where they were looked after by a mysterious individual. They were later able to regain consciousness and the scabbards were able to regain consciousness. However, the mysterious figure was already gone.

They were greeted by Oden before they left the treasure room. Ashura suspected it to be a fraud and reported it to his friends who believed it was legitimate. Kin’emon tried unsuccessfully to counter this argument, but Ashura knocked him off his feet while drawing his sword. He was then stabbed in the face by “Oden”.
Oden didn’t bleed from the cut. The scabbards realized it was Kanjuro’s design and the design stabbed Ashura in the chest with one his swords. Ashura sat briefly on the ground while Oden’s design clashed against Denjiro. Then Kanjuro spoke on Ashura’s behalf and the design ignited explosives underneath his clothes.
Ashura immediately took action and attacked Oden’s drawing. They both crashed out of the room and Ashura told his comrades that Kanjuro would not be going after Momonosuke. Ashura held onto the design, even though he stabbed it. He then blew himself up and engulfed them both in a huge explosion. Ashura was then seen lying motionless on a ground. Kin’emon declares him dead, which will be proved at the Battle of Onigashima.
